Always wish you could grab your jeans/dungarees/denim skirt off the floor on a Monday morning and wear it to the office? Well we're going to show you how. Via the girls of Instagram who look so banging in their denim that we reckon any boss would totally wave any no jeans nonsense.
Here are our tips for getting away with it.
Add A Swish Coat
If you add a super smart tailored coat to your jeans, suddenly they don't look like jeans, they look like blue trousers. Jeans? What jeans? Catch our drift? Make your top half posh and no one will notice what's going on down below. Especially if you pick a slick, flared style.
Button Up And Grab A Bowling Bag
If you've got a favourite denim dress that you normally wear unbuttoned in the sun while chugging a beer, don't discount it from your workwear rotation. Button up the collar, add a printed coat in a heritage looking fabric (houndstooth or tartan will work just as well), and finish with a prim looking bag, like a bowler style, or top handle type.
Pair Your Boiler Suit With Heels
You might normally wear your super street boiler suit with your Stan Smiths, but this will not go down well in the office. If, however, you pick a pair of power dressing platforms, no one, not anyone, is going to mess with you. I would pin your hair back into a pony tail or chignon to add a little bit of extra polish.
Channel Seventies Smart
Double denim looks smart enough for the office when you tuck your shirt in neatly and add an elegant accessory, like a skinny seventies scarf. If you want a bit of variation, instead of the one block colour look, then try a white denim shirt - it will feel more spring like, too.
Luxe Up Your Jeans With Faux Fur
Wondering whether you can still wear your faux fur from last winter? Yes. Yes you can. It's still chilly in the mornings, and if you swan into the office with a giant furry glam thing over your jeans, they certainly won't be looking at your bottom half. Choose a crisp, clean looking rollneck to go underneath, so you don't add extra bulk to your bod. It is supposedly spring, after all.
Wear Your Dungas With A Pussy Bow
Dungarees often don't feel smart because we wear them over T shirts and with trainers, but how ace does this pair look over a black pussy bow shirt? Keep the look simple using all black accessories and shoes.
