Gucci designer Alessandro Michelemay be famed for reinventing the Italian fashion house, but the Gucci Cruise 2017 show was all about celebrating the Brits – from his stand out designs on the runway to the star-studded FROW.
Since Alessandroscored the top fashion job last January, he’s injected his own unique blend of sexy, kooky, eccentricity all rolled into one. ‘70s Geek Chic has never looked so cool - or modern.
So it seemed fitting he would choose the iconic gothic interiors of Westminster Abbey in London to stage his latest collection.
"Westminster is a piece of this city’s energy,” Alessandro told the Evening Standard. “Something the contemporary world has forgotten."
The collection itself tapped into Brit culture in the best (and most stylish way ever) – think posh schoolgirl meets punk princess.
Union jack sweaters + Bridget Jones-esque headscarf = now our (surprising) favourite new combo.
And yep, we’re more than a little bit obsessed with the fashion FROW that turned out – which was basically a collection of the Best Brits To Know In 2016 - from actresses Bel Powley and Ella Purnell to 21-year old musician Flo Morrissey. With Fashion Week regular Alexa Chung, looking pretty in pink for the occasion as well, obvs.
French actress and singer, Soko, also snapped selfies for the brand’s social media channels.
The party didn’t stop there though. The fash pack went on to dance into the early hours at 106 Piccadilly in Mayfair, giving us all major Insta-envy.
