Divisive denim: It’s a thing.
Cast your minds back a few months ago and you may remember Kendall Jenner advocating ‘invisible jeans’– a questionable DIY trend where the outside seam runs all the way down your leg, connecting the jean hem around your ankle. Yep, we’re not entirely sold on this one.
And now Gigi Hadid has got her hands on yet another questionable style for summer. Say hello to the most controversial designer ‘jorts’ that everyone's talking about RN...
When hip New York-based label Opening Ceremony created a pair of detachable jeans that turn into super-short shorts, the internet went into something of a fashion frenzy. The internet response was 90% negative– "how comfortable are they really?" a common reaction.
‘These Y/Project trousers come in a 2-in-1 style with detachable straight-fit legs,’ the description reads. ‘The high-cut shorts and legs are held together with button tabs along the front and back.’
We have to admit though that Gigi Hadid actually looks pretty good in her white pair. Opting for a laid back vibe (staying true to her Cali-girl roots), tucking a plain white tee into her multi-fuctioning denim and keeping her accessories minimal.
Note: Less is more when it comes to this sartorial effort a la Gigi. Think Scandi-style jewellery, a micro bag (FYI: Hadid's is from NYC brand Stalvey) and nude suede pumps.
Not quite ready to rock jorts just yet? From frayed styles to dopamine denim, here’s Grazia’s edit of the hottest Insta-approved denim trends to get on your radar this season.
