She’s tall, she’s blonde, and she wears a long line, silk jacket with aplomb. No, we’re not talking about one of the Olsen twins, but Gigi Hadid. The model attended last night’s CFDA Fashion Awards in New York in a full-length cream coat and matching maxi dress by The Row, which just so happens to be Mary-Kate and Ashley’s own label. Channelling the twins, she wore her hair loose and took to the millennial pink and cobalt blue carpet in flats (by Stuart Weitzman with crystal embellishments, if you’re interested).
The overall effect was clean, lean and a clear win. Making long-sleeves and a single, sparkling choker look inviting for summer, it’s a world away from bridal fashion, even though she’s wearing head-to-toe white. Yet again, Gigi makes simple look luxe and effort-free.
Those supposedly in the know like to go on about the Met Gala being the fashion Oscar’s, but the reality is the CFDA Fashion Awards is where style set royalty really turn it out. The yearly event, hosted by The Council Of Fashion Designers of America honours American brands, designers, models and luminaries and pulls in an enviably chic array of guests. Along with Gigi, Bella Hadid attended in Off-White, Nicole Kidman in Oscar de la Renta, Hailey Baldwin in Cushnie et Ochs, Alek Wek in Balenciaga, Lupita Nyong’o in Jason Wu and Diane Kruger in Monse.
