Gigi Hadid regularly tops the red carpet best dressed list, and fans of the 21-year-old supermodel in the making were treated to a parade of jaw-dropping looks when she co-hosted the annual American Music Awards over the weekend.
According to the model, the original plan had been to make no fewer than ten outfit changes over the course of the three hour ceremony. That all changed, though, after Gigi received some advice from last year's host, Jennifer Lopez. 'We did our research, and J. Lo's team told us to do less changes,' she revealed on the red carpet. So, Gigi and her stylists decided on six outfits: one for her big arrival, then five changes throughout the show.
While the model's impression of the soon-to-be First Lady Melania Trump (which was delivered in a heavy 'Eastern European' accent and referenced her Republican Convention speech from earlier this year) proved to be controversial, dividing opinion on Twitter, her style choices were as pitch perfect as we'd have expected.
1. All-white lace
Gigi took prairie-girl into the twenty-first century with this all-white version of an off-the-shoulder dress fresh from Roberto Cavalli's S/S'17 runway. Yes, it's almost entirely see-through, but the chevron-lace detailing keeps things tasteful.
2. Jessica Rabbit red
Next up: a floor-length gown in red sequins, complete with cut-outs and a thigh-high slit from the masters of high-octane statement dressing, Atelier Versace.
3. Shorts
First worn by Gigi's pal Hailey Baldwin on the runway at London Fashion Week earlier this year, this blazer and shorts two-piece (complete with serious shoulder embellishment) is by Julien Macdonald (who's also recently been worn by Taylor Swift for her most recent awards show engagement).
4. Snakeskin
Another Macdonald number: this time, a nude snakeskin print dress with yet more cut-outs and - naturally - a choker-style neckline.
5. Gothic glamour
Maleficent chic, anyone? For her fifth look, Gigi tempered the formality of a high neckline, power-shoulders and a heavy, almost armour-like fabric with a thigh-high slit and front cut-out - as only Gigi can...
6. Athleisure goes glittery
And for her final look? A zip-front jumpsuit in shimmering, quasi-transparent material. It's like Rihanna's naked dress went athleisure...
