AW16 fashion month has begun and over the next few weeks we will be sharing all the hottest news straight from the front rows of New York, London, Milan and Paris.
Here's what we've seen so far on the FROW... (scroll down for gallery)
PARIS
Louis Vuitton
Oscar winners, award-winning musicians – you name it – they were there to sit FROW at Louis Vuitton earlier today.
Best Actress winner Alicia Vikander (who wore Louis Vuitton to collect her Oscar last month) was there to show her support to LV's creative director Nicolas Ghesquière, as was fellow Oscar winner, Jennifer Connelly, who attended alongside her son, Stellan Bettany.
Model Karlie Kloss was also snapped on the FROW, as was singer Selena Gomez, Bond girl Lea Seydoux and actress Zendaya.
Safe to say, if you were A-list and you were in Paris, you were there.
Chanel
The stars descended onto Karl Lagerfeld's FROW today to see the latest A/W Collection from the Chanel designer.
As Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid strutted their stuff on the catwalk, singer Pharrell Williams and his wife, Helen Lasichanh, sat FROW to watch as the collection unfolded.
Also spotted was Wendi Deng Murdoch (former wife of media mogul Rupert Murdoch) who sat in prime position next to Anna Wintour. Flanking the American Vogue Editor-in-Chief, on the other side, was Chanel kid model (and Lagerfeld's godson) 7-year-old Hudson Kroeni.
We wonder if the Queen of Fashion found this slightly awkward... because, well... click here to find out!
Balmain
It didn't appear that Kanye West was on his best form at Balmain - he sat FROW next to mother-in-law, Kris Jenner, concealed within his hoodie the entire show long...
Also FROW for the collection – which, don't forget, featured the rather epic hair transformations of Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid – was model Olivia Palermo and singer Kelly Rowland.
Dries Van Noten
Style icon Iris Apfel sat FROW for DVN sporting, as ever, her signature glasses and trademark costume jewellery.
The nonagenarian was in Paris for the launch of her exhibition 'Iris in Paris' at Le Bon Marche, which opened that day too.
H&M
As Jourdan Dunn wowed on the catwalk, all eyes turned to the FROW, on which sat a legion of A-listers including Kate Mara and her boyfriend, British actor Jamie Bell, Ciara, Emma Roberts, Olivia Palermo and French actress Alice Isaaz.
Other stars supporting the high street brand included Suki Waterhouse, who Instagrammed a picture prior to the show...
... and model and musician Gabriel-Kane Day Lewis, who Instagrammed this rather amusing video after it.
CHLOE
Sitting up top for Chloe included Destiny's Child star Kelly Rowland – who rocked a red dungarees – The Blonde Salad blogger Chiara Ferragni and Harry Potter/ Gossip Girl actress, Clemence Poesy.
And just so you feel like you were there too, check out Chiara's finale vid...
MILAN
Prada
There to witness the entree of what our fashion director dubbed the Prada Pirate were... Anna Wintour rocking a medley of looks – animal prints, stripes, florals, you name it – fashion blogger Bryanboy working a fantastic one-sided earing (very Pirate, very now, very good choice) and Alexa Chung in fishnets...
Yup the FROW of Prada was a fashion feast for the eyes. Check it out the gallery below.
Gucci
There to witness the second AW16 season of Alessandro Michele was Hollywood starlet Elizabeth Olsen.
The Avengers: Age of Ultron star dressed up for the occasion – literally, check out her platforms – and sat FROW for the highly anticipated show alongside industry bigwig Anna Wintour et al.
LONDON
** Burberry **
It was its first show as a unified label – yes Burberry Brit, London and Prorsum are now just 'Burberry' – and its last show before launching instant catwalk sales, so you can imagine the FROW at Burberry was pretty impressive (and extensive – with islands in the middle, there were a number of 'em).
Alexa Chung sat up front and, when we dived in to talk to her on arrival, told us her favourite shows of LFW (so far...) have been Simone Rocha and Holly Goddard. Nice!
To the vocals of Jake Bugg – singing live – Naomi Campbell, Mario Testino and Rosie Huntingdon-Whiteley all watched FROW too, as did Erin O'Connor, who spoke to us after the show.
'Burberry is just a stamp of Britishishness, isn't it?' she told us. 'It just encompasses every single culture that we embrace, and it's about boho-glamour with leisurewear. And the two shouldn't combine but they really do, so beautifully, and Christopher [Bailey] sort of invented it, and we all followed.'
Well said, Erin, well said!
Now, click here for three things you absolutely have to know about Burbery AW16.
** Temperley London **
Since TL's AW16 inspiration was pirates, nymphs and sea creatures is it any wonder their front row was a veritable SEA of starlets?
Really setting the SEAne [we'll stop this now] was FROWer Jodie Kidd, who posted this snap to Instagram...
Sitting next to her was mum and daughter duo Yasmin and Amber Le Bon, and nearby, Bond girl Olga Kurylenko and Brit model Daisy Lowe, who posted this pic with Portia Freeman:
Topshop Unique
Always a popular one, it's no surprise that Topshop Unique welcomed a legion of fashion heavyweights to sit up top – Anna Wintour for one, who sat next to her daughter Bee Shaffer.
Other catwalk big guns included Jourdan Dunn, Karlie Kloss and Lara Stone, who had a real hoot taking selfies...
** Marc Jacobs Beauty **
Yes, yes, we're cheating slightly – MJ's show was in NYC – but he did launch his Marc Jacobs Beauty collection finally in the UK at Harrods in London yesterday, and he did throw a truly jaw-dropping soirée afterwards to celebrate it. Which makes it entirely worthy of our FROW report because, well, almost the entire front row of LFW were there.
Like who? Well, Naomi Campbell for one. Giles Deacon and Katie Grand for two and three. Georgia May Jagger, Erin O'Conner and Alexa Chung for four and five and... we lose count. There was also a star performance by Gossip singer Beth Ditto, as shown on our Instagram post. Naomi Harris was also there. As was Rosamund Pike and Edie Campbell. Our hands are tired of typing now. Let's show a picture:
** Henry Holland **
The lights were shining bright for the start of Henry Holland's show – and they really were, see...
Picture credit: Lily Russo, Grazia Fashion Editor
... which was fitting as a number of stars turned up to support him – Alexa Chung, Daisy Lowe and Pixie Geldof to name only a fashion few. Quite why Mr Holland was so frightened we've no idea...
** Emilia Wickstead **
AW16 for Emilia Wickstead meant the debut of ribbon motif-ed skirts like this...
Sitting front row to see them was Alexa Chung, Olivia Palermo, Portia Freeman and Oscar-winning film director, Tom Hooper.
Charlotte Olympia
It was Brit model central in Camden's The Roundhouse for Charlotte Olympia. On the runway, model Alice Dellal made her catwalk comeback in support of her elder sister, Charlotte. Whilst off the catwalk, beauties Daisy Lowe, Alexa Chung, Laura Bailey and Mary Charteris all sat FROW for the show; Charlotte Olympia's LFW debut.
Pam Hogg
Glam rock designer Pam Hog welcomed Jo Wood, Nick Grimshaw and Nick Rhodes to her FROW. Biggest cheer from the floor though, came from All Saints singer Melanie Blatt – her daughter Liyella walked the runway in spikes.
NEW YORK
Ralph Lauren
Anna Wintour went all out in animal print to sit FROW at Ralph Lauren. Snakeskin boots, leopard print overcoat – the lot. She sat next to Sienna Miller who favoured a slightly less colourful ensemble: top to toe black – a look Wintour has said she would never ever wear. #Awkward.
Marc Jacobs
We know FROWs can be fairly political – deciding who sits where and so forth – but there's nothing like bringing a bit of actual politics to them. Which is exactly what Anna Wintour did by wearing a t-shirt (shock horror) bearing the face of none of than US Presidential Democrat candidate, Hilary Clinton. Talk about girl power...
There were other surprises to be found in the show itself too. For amongst the likes of Kendall Jenner walked singer-turned-actress Lady Gaga. An unusual choice? Perhaps. But when you check out the shoes she had to wear, it all makes total sense...
Michael Kors
As all seasoned fashion weekers know, you do not – NOT – sit cross legged on the FROW. Why? Well, it casts shadows on the floor, dunnit! This means photographers at the end of the catwalk don't get to snap the clothes in the best of lights. Which might be disastrous for the designer; show wrecking even... (a bit harsh. 'Not good for the show', at any rate.)
ANYWAY...
One person who appeared not to know about this golden rule – or if they did know about, clean forgot – is actress Blake Lively. In spite of Michael Kors chairman John D Idol personally asking FROWers to uncross their pins, the Gossip Girl star's remained firmly crossed. The whole presentation long. Oh. M. G.
Now if that is not a NYFW titbit worth gossiping about, what is? xo xo
Proenza Schouler
The lovely Liv Tyler sat FROW for Proenza Schouler, cradling her baby bump – number three for the Stealing Beauty starlet.
Brandon Maxwell
Shout out to Lady Gaga's Bowie-inspired flame-hued hair...
Rag + Bone
The boys from Britain certainly secured one of the most interesting FROWs we've seen this week. Of course Ms Wintour was in attendance, as was the wonderful Grace Coddington.
Jefferson Hack - editorial director/publisher of Dazed group and dad to Kate Moss's daughter Lila Grace – also lended his support, as did Sex and the City's Mikhail Baryshnikov and influential blogger Bryan Boy.
Zac Posen
A legion of stars turned out to support Zac Posen yesterday, including big names from film and music. Katie Holmes glittered in a baby blue cut out dress, whilst Lucy Liu covered up with a winter coat in monochrome and sat FROW with a very special person on her lap – manager Jason Weinberg's son, Jasper.
Jennifer Hudson looked exquisite in a floral oriental coat, whilst Coco Rocha opted for an ballerina-style navy dress.
As Anna Wintour said of Posen's work in 2013 to the New York Times,'he does like to make women look incredibly glamorous'.
Victoria Beckham
The most precious people in VBs life sat FROW for her show, and they were, of course, her children – Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and little Harper – as well as proud hubbie David Beckham.
As is customary for the family, they were seated next to Anna Wintour. But as is not customary, however, VB gave her final bow in flats - TRAINERS no less. Times really are a-changing...
Puma x Fenty
What a star-studded audience there was here... Rihanna (obviously, she co-designed) who sported her brand new bob, Naomi Campbell all in white, Alana Hadid, who worked 'layered effect', and designer Jeremy Scott in his own designs.
Alexander Wang
18-year-old model Katherine Moore sent the fashion world into frenzy when she opened Alexander Wang's AW16 show with cropped red hair, courtesy of mega stylist Guido Palau.
But that wasn't the only talking point. Solange Knowles sat FROW alongside Gossip lead singer Beth Ditto, Kylie Jenner and, ovs, Anna Wintour – clad in leopard skin.
Altuzarra
With its 19th century Indian textiles and folkloric influences, Altuzarra's catwalk positively wowed – as did its FROW. There to witness the Only Lovers Left Alive-inspired collection were actresses Emily Ratajkowski, Kate Bosworth and Jaime King.
Yeezy 3
Kicking off proceedings, let's start with the show everyone is talking about: Yeezy 3 – Kanye West's third season clothing line, this year, the result of a collaboration with Balmain's Olivier Rousteing (as Kanye announced during the presentation).
Unveiled in tandem with his new album, The Life Of Pablo, Madison Square Gardens was, as expected, packed and whilst there wasn't a 'front row' as such, there was, of course, a 'best row'. Naturally it featured the Kardashian-West/Kardashian/Jenner clan: Kim and daughter North, Kylie, Kendall, Kris, Khloe and Caitlyn.
Anna Wintour was in attendance, as was 50 Cent, Jay-Z and Karlie Kloss. What the great Wintour made of the collection, we can but imagine... But with Naomi Campbell making a surprise appearance onstage as a Yeezy model, no one can say Kanye didn't pull out all the stops.
