If you have an Instagram account, chances are you have come across @thefatjewish. Joshua Ostrovsky's Instagram page has a cool 5.7million followers - that's more than Gigi Hadid, Naomi Campbell and Karlie Kloss. He is only 500k followers behind Victoria Beckham.
Like any true Instagram star, he has taken the 'fat jewish' brand beyond the world of Earlybird and #hotdogsorlegs. He has signed a deal with entertainment agency CAA, is doing an Angelina Jolie and launching his own rose wine (called White Girl Rose) and is working on an upcoming book entitled 'Money, Pizza, Respect'. Plus Fat Jewish now has a modelling contract.
In July @FatJewish signed with One Management Agency and he is showing at New York Fashion Week. 'Showing WHAT?' you ask. Well according to The Cuton September 16 he will debut the Dad Fashion Show, which is "an eclectic collection of apparel" celebrating "the moods and personalities of dads of all ages."
This Dad tribute is scheduled to take place at MADE studios at the Standard Hotel. The co-founder of MADE Fashion Week said to The Cut: "Josh has always been a visionary and that is something we welcome into the MADE family. I think the establishment would agree: his keen eye, ability to identify trends and the high probability that he has fathered a yet-to-be-identified child has always kept him at the forefront of culture."
As for his modelling ambitions, he said to the New York Post that he has his eyes set on an underwear campaign: "I’d love to do briefs. I’d love to be oiled up looking super serious. Maybe I’m on a horse, and maybe it’s raining. Maybe I’m not oiled up. Maybe I’m just on a horse, and it’s raining and I’m naturally wet. I’m soaking wet.”
@TheFatJewish was trending this weekend, but it wasn't because of a new ad campaign or magazine cover. A number of comedians took to Twitter to accuse Ostrovsky of plagarising their jokes -read more here.
