Is Katy Perry looking to up her style cred in the new video for This Is How We Do, which has been doing the internet rounds to the tune of almost 2million YouTube views since its debuted lat night? In what looks like a trippy sojourn into the mind of the tongue-out smiley emoji, we also see outfits by Perry favourites including Jeremy Scott, Kenzo, Saint Laurent, Christopher Kane, new London designer Nasir Mashar, and a no doubt soon to be copied pizza-print swimsuit (ASOS Marketplace already has a pizza bikini, FYI) as well as references to Vidal Sassoon's famous picture of Nancy Kwan, Yves Saint Laurent's iconic Mondrian dress and the high priestess of modern style herself, Coco Chanel.
It is of course still heavier on the colourful funtimes we've come to know and love KP for, than anything you might expect from a serious fashion film, but could it mean we'll be seeing more of the singer in designer circles. She has already walked the catwalk for Moschino, along with fellow pop star Rita Ora, before.
Here's a look at the best fashion moments in This Is How We Do. We'll leave you to decide whether Katy will be filling Cara's shoes any time soon.
As the video opens with a side-on shot of K-Pez, you will definitely find yourself with a case of fashion deja-vu.
That's because she's doing her best impression of 60s supermodel Nancy Kwan modeliing Vidal Sassoon's revolutionary five-point haircut.
The 60s look continues with a sunshine yellow shift. Look, it matches the bananas on her trolley.
It might look vintage but it's actually from Christopher Kane's resort 2014 collection.
Katy Perry couldn't go all fashion on us without something from New York's lairiest designer, and this camouflage faux-fur jacket is peak Jeremy Scott.
Matching your lipstick to your dress in such a literal way is a pretty high-fashion move if you ask us.
Especially if like Katy you've nabbed it from Saint Laurent's spring 2014 collection.
Katy's streetwear look comes courtesy of new designer Nasir Mazhar. You can see the full look on her Instagram.
Nasir's spring 2014 collection, as seen in the video, is like a cool cross between Clueless and Christina Aguilera's Can't Hold Us Down video.
It's not just Slimane's Saint Laurent that gets a nod in this video. One of Yves' original creations gets a reference too.
This shift dress, using a design from a painting by Mondrian, is one of Yves Saint Laurent's most famous.
Love this jungle print? It's by Kenzo, who are most famous right now for their tiger sweatshirt.
It wouldn't be a fashion ode without a nod to Coco Chanel, who Katy references with a 20s bob and pearls.
