This year, the innovative brands and designers being showcased in London are: ANGUS TSUI, Bettie, BLIND by JW and YEUNG CHIN.
Find out everything you need to know about Hong Kong's rising fashion stars below – these are definitely names to bookmark now...
ANGUS TSUI
Founded in 2014, ANGUS TSUI is on a mission to make fashion kinder to the environment, all through colourful, unique designs with a twist. Tsui makes all of his clothes with ‘end of roll’ fabrics, using sustainable techniques such as Up-Cycling, Zero Waste and Reconstruction. The brand has won multiple awards, too, and it’s not hard to see why. Expect big things from this young designer.
Bettie
Bettie Jiang worked for the likes of Alexander McQueen before opening her own eponymous label, which gives you an idea of her skill and talent. Think incredible tailoring with contemporary details and flourishes – a split sleeve on a fitted jacket, for example, and clashing prints and colours. Her first collection is called Awaken, inspired by geometry and designed to highlight the unique personalities of women.
BLIND by JW
Established by Walter Kong and Jessica Lau, Blind by JW celebrates carefree style that marries the east and west. There are beautiful, hand-drawn prints, delicate fabrics and soft pastel colours, all of which can be seen on wearable clothes that have an air of romance about them. From frill-detail tops to cross-body bags, Kong and Lau are versatile designers who are quietly building Blind by JW into an exciting fashion label.
YEUNG CHIN
Having presented previous collections in Milan, Paris, New York and Tokyo, Yeung Chin’s autumn/winter 2020 collection explores sombre themes of death and grief through a collection of beautiful pieces. From incredible, intricate laser cutting on skirts and dresses to oversized silhouettes, tulle T-shirts and midi skirts, Chin is certainly a designer to watch.
*The presentation is part of the Fashion Hong Kong promotion campaign organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and sponsored by Create Hong Kong (CreateHK) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
