To celebrate the launch of the Emporio Armani's very own Vespa Grazia's Deputy Digital Editor Emma Spedding joined editors from around the world in Rome to have a pinch-me Roman Holiday moment.
To launch the Vespa, Armani enlisted a fleet of Italian chaps (wearing head to toe Armani, of course) to give us a tour of Rome over two days. How better to road test the Vespa than with an (exceptionally dressed) Armani convoy?
First things first, let's talk about the Vespa. We can confirm that an Armani scooter is just as stylish as you'd imagine. The world's most fashionable bike was created to mark the 40th anniversary of Giorgio Armani and the 130th anniversary of the Piaggio Group.
The bike is a special twist on the iconic 946 model, with a classic dark grey matte finish, a luxe brown leather seat and the Armani logo on the side and above the head lights. Translation - the perfect bike for a let's-pretend-to-be-Audrey-Hepburn Instagram. When in Rome, eh? (Apologies, we couldn't write a piece about Rome without dropping that at least once).
On to the view from the Vespa - over the two days on the back of the bike, our boys in Armani zipped us from drinks on a private terrace in the centre, to a picnic in the Roman countryside, to a tour of the Jewish Catacombs to the magical Coliseum. Of course there were plenty of pasta-stops and selfies on wheels on the agenda too.
The final destination on our Armani Rome-trip was the launch of the Vespa 946 at the party-location-of-dreams Villa Medici. After pulling up on our 946s, we walked up the long dramatic walkway to the Renaissance villa just in time for a sunset Aperol Spritz.
The party was the definition of La Dolce Vita - a terrace overlooking the rooftops of Rome, a rainbow of Emporio Armani box bags, candlelit cobbled staircases, men in Armani suits, a whole table designated for mozzarella (seriously) and never ending bubbly. It doesn't get much better.
Want to have a Vespa moment too? A limited number will be available to purchase from London's Old Brompton Street Armani store (for £9,671). If you're not in the market for a scooter, they have also launched a special capsule collection from driving gloves to gilets to sweatshirts.
