The people-watching opportunities have been few and far between over the past year, but for red carpet enthusiasts, things are looking up. Cruella, which will be arriving at actual cinemas this Friday, kicked things off with its premiere in LA. And not only were face masks noticeably absent from proceedings, but the fashion was everything we'd been hoping for.
Emma Stone, who is playing the titular character and has a deliciously flamboyant wardrobe in the film, opted for a sharp trouser suit from her go-to, Louis Vuitton, with subtle nods to the lady herself. A dagger brooch sat on her right lapel and her lipstick was almost the exact shade of vermillion made famous by Glenn Close, the original Cruella de Vil.
Stone wore the suit with a white pussy-bow blouse, sticking to her ficitional alter-ego's penchant for monochrome outfits, which got us thinking, strangely, about heading back to the office. Because, with a few minor adjustments, this look would make quite a splash on day one if everything goes to plan in late-June. The jacket is single-breasted and straight-lined, making it easy to wear over everything from crisp white tees to button-down shirts, while the trousers, with their wide-leg cut, are less severe than a slim-cut cigarette.
