Sorry, But We All Want To Dress Like Timothée Chalamet In Dune Now

Get your cape on.

It feels like Timothée Chalametis omnipresent at the moment. Not only can we see him in not one but two major films right now – Wes Anderson's The French Dispatch and Denis Villeneuve's Dune – we have also been the grateful recipients of many, many red carpet photographs of his various premieres. Then, there was that sneak peek of him as Willy Wonka, who until now was an asexual character at best, the stuff of our collective sexual nightmares at worst. Not anymore, friends! Not anymore.

But it seems he's also in our wardrobes, or at least we want him to be. Not literally, of course, although... no, let's not head down that path. Rather, let's discuss the fact that Chalamet's appearance as Paul Atreides in Dune has provided some unlikely sartorial inspiration.

The story goes like this: the year is 10191 and Duke Leto of House Atreides is... actually, no sorry, there's no time. Not even David Lynch could tell that story. All you need to know is this: this is the sexiest space film you'll ever see. There's Oscar Isaacs, Jason Momoa, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson and, of course, our Tim. There are also capes! Cargo pants! Natural coloured scarves! Nehru jackets!

It's precisely these items which have captured our imagination, apparently. According to Lyst, searches for capes are up by 180% since the Dune premiere last week. Similarly, demand for Nehru collar jackets has increased by 18%, they're up by 35% for natural coloured scarves and 47% for cargo pants respectively. Sci-fi chic.

We'll be honest, this is not a trend we saw coming. But actually, who doesn't love the dramatic superfluity of a cape? Or the ease and comfort of cargo pants? The latter is actually more difficult to embrace, given that they're about as sexy as pre-Chalamet Willy Wonka. But clearly, where he goes we will follow.

Apparently, we'll even go to space. Sartorially, at least.
