The 90s is having a bit of a fashion moment. All the cool girls are wearing teeny shoulder bags, oversized tailoring, straight-leg jeans and slimline sunglasses but, should you need further evidence, it’s also the decade that Dua Lipa mined for her new collection with London denim brand Pepe Jeans. 'I was inspired by a mixture of the Nineties and early Noughties - off-duty supermodels and the grunge club scene,’ she says, adding that her style was influenced by a childhood spent in London, where she remembers her mum taking her to the Pepe Jeans shop on Portobello Road. ‘London has a totally different feel to Paris or Milan. There’s something a bit more gritty about it.’
The collection, which had its launch party last night and is already available to shop online, has all your 90s staples - chainmail tops, dresses and skirts, silky slips, tank tops - as well as, of course, plenty of denim in the form of maxi dungaree dresses, barrel-leg jeans and even corsets. ‘I love jeans in all shapes and colours,’ says Lipa. What about her favourite piece from the collection? ‘The metallic silver dress. It can be dressed down with heavy boots or look super glamorous on a night out with heels,’ she says.
Super fans are also in luck; prices start from £27. ‘I definitely designed with my fans in mind and can’t wait to see them wearing it.'
