While the high street is plagued by closing businesses, mass redundancies and dying brands, Dr Martens, by contrast, has enjoyed a stellar year. Profits have risen by a huge 70 per cent, with online sales now accounting for 16 per cent of the company's total revenues.
This is thanks, in large part, to Dr Martens' vegan collection. Kenny Wilson, the brand's chief executive, said that sales of the cruelty-free range have increased by 'multiple hundreds of per cent' in the last few years, suggesting that sustainability is a growing concern among shoppers.
