Any collaboration that claims to take inspiration from the 1950s musical An American In Paris has got to result in pretty excellent visuals. And that is exactly what happened when designer Tory Burch got creative with actor/director Dianna Agron.

Short film *L’Américaine *is based on a café scene from An American In Paris, the one where performer Henri Baurel (played by Georges Guétary) tells a friend about his new amour, the exquisite Lise Bouvier (played by Leslie Caron). In a series of sequences, Baurel describes Bouvier's character – from her love of reading, to her sense of fun and (for want of a better word) 'modernness' – all of which are mirrored in the Burch x Agron film.

In the new interpretation, two young French men sit in a café, in present-day Paris, discussing an enticing new girl one of the boys has met. Infiltrated with flashbacks to the chance-meeting, the film depicts the giddy excitement of new love, with a natural, light-hearted touch, and moments of humour too.

Starring Margaret Qualley (*Four Weddings And A Funeral *actress Andie Macdowell's daughter), L’Américaine celebrates the Tory Burch Paris flagship and heralds the arrival of the brand's new Paris Capsule Collection. The limited-edition range of classic American sportswear – with a multi-national twist – is modelled by Qualley throughout.
