This weekend Dolce & Gabbana threw the ultimate fashion party: a weekend-long Haute Couture show in Porta Fina, Italy. Domenico Dolce opened up his garden for the brand's Alta Moda show. Guests left reality at the door to enter a world of Dolce & Gabbana meets Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.
The 94 breathtaking womens looks which hit the runway on Friday at sunset included gilded gold gowns and pumpkin-print skirts, all topped off with bouquet headpieces or glittering fairy wings. The D&G fantasy world was complete with bushes blossoming with watermelons and grapes and Puck-like characters performing contortions while suspended from hoops.
Onto Saturday and it was the turn of the boys. Men's looks focused on tailoring with plush peacock-embroidered jackets and PJ-style silk jumpsuits making a statement.
Both nights culminated in dancing, but it was Sunday's gold-themed extravaganza which really got the crowd going. And who better than Kylie to close the show? Dressed as a fairy with a star headpiece and matching mini dress she held the crowds to attention as they waved giant glittering heart-shaped plaques.
“I want to bring them to a place where fantasy and reality become confused,” said Domenico. We think he and Stefano might just have succeeded.
