Hands up if any of the below apply to you:
A. You’ve got a grey marl jumper lying around that you can’t bear to chuck out, but it needs a little TLC.
B. You bought a sassy slogan sweat last year, love the jumper, but aren’t feeling the message any longer.
C. You won’t part with your school/uni sweat, would love to wear it again sans badge, but it just sits in the back of your cupboard.
D. You spilled red wine on your top and are hoping, by some miracle, it’ll come out in the 14th wash.
E. All of the above
Step forward, for this DIY.
We were inspired by Christopher Kane’s Resort ’15 applique sweat. It’s a super-easy, no-sew DIY, and the geometric shaped pattern is ideal for covering a multitude of sins.
We used this bargain of a jumper, the perfect cropped grey marl, £6 from Primark.
When using fabric to be glued onto a jumper for an easy no-sew, it’s important to pick a material that won’t fray, and that you can cut to a nice sharp edge with fabric scissors. Felt, is perfect. As is this gorge glittered fabric.
We cut out some fun shapes. It’s easy to make a perfect triangle by folding over the corner of the edge of your fabric. We freehanded a pop art-esque star, and used a glass to trace the perfect circle.
Arrange your shapes in any way you see fit, or, to cover a badge/stain/logo!
You only need a tiny bit of glue to stick down each shape, this stuff is amazing for fabric, and if used very sparingly, won’t show through the felt.
Leave to dry, we even put a heavy book on top of our design to ensure it was firmly in place. Say hello to your new jumper!
