When it comes to sheer tops, are you like us, do you struggle with the do-I-put-another-top-under-or-just-a-bra conundrum?? Well we’ve got the answer. Sequins, many many sequins. And a bit of handy craft. This pink wonder from ASOS is a great way to work the sheer trend, and with this diy, we’re taking the stance of more is more.

Here's how to do your own...

  1. Collect as many great sequins, acrylic flat back gems and pearls as you dare. top diy tip! always keep a hold of broken necklaces/jewellery/hair clips for diys like this, don’t chuck out those precious gems! We went with the Miley-esque, super kawaii look, with a great selection of bling from John Lewis, including pearl hearts, teardrop gems, and square diamantes. It's also worth checking out Hobby Craft, for these pearlised stars, hearts and sequins. If you want to go one step more imaginative, then try mixing in flowers, stars and alphabet beads. You're also going to need some glue.

  1. As you need to glue the front of the top only, when you lay it out flat on a surface, prop the inside of the top up with coffee mugs - ingenious improvisation on our part, even if we do say so ourselves...

  1. Heat up your glue gun as per instructions, you only need a tiny bit of glue to stick the gems, as you don’t want the glue spilling out.

  2. Decide where on the top you would like the sequins, we decided to cover a wide band across the chest, but you could start from the bottom and ombre the sequins upwards, or attach in little clusters all over the top. We started by sticking the flat back gems randomly across the top, mixing colours, shapes of the gems and direction we were sticking.

  1. Once you have stuck all the flat back gems, it means you can save time by gluing a large area on the top, and taking all sequins, pearls and alphabet letters (any gems that it doesn’t matter which way up they land) and sprinkle them onto the top.

  2. We let sections we had worked on dry, then started the process again.

  3. Let the top completely dry for four hours, and then you're ready to shimmy and sparkle.
