No one does glamour quite like Dita Von Teese. Famed for her perfect red lips, super-sharp eyeliner flicks and flawless vintage waves, the burlesque-star-and-model turned lingerie designer is the epitome of retro pin-up style, and never looks anything less than immaculate.
She's recently lauched the covetable 'Von Teese' lipstick in collaboration with MAC (in a classic red shade, of course), released a guide to all things beauty titled 'Your Beauty Mark' and designed a line of boudoir-inspired lingerie.
Now, Dita has teamed up with lifestyle and e-commerce platform Semaine to share the secrets behind her inimitable look, including a curated edit of her favourite fashion brands and beauty products. To celebrate, she's spoken exclusively to Grazia about the true meaning of glamour, the inspiration behind her book and how beauty is all about self-acceptance.
How would you describe your style?
"I like femininity, elegance, and womanly shapes that emphasize my natural, God-given form."
What does glamour mean to you?
"I like the word 'glamour' because, to me, it's very much about the mood you create throughout all facets of your life, in every nook and cranny. It's mostly about creating mystique, a sense of mystery."
**What is seduction? **
"Seduction has nothing to do with pleasing other people; it's about creating your own look and embracing your own sacred space"
** On her beauty book:**
"My practice was mostly trial-and-error but, as life would have it, practice makes perfect. 'Your Beauty Mark: The Ultimate Guide to Eccentric Glamour' is meant to be insightful, informative, autobiographical, and, above-all-else, an entertaining read."
On beauty:
"When I think about the word 'beauty' I think about the routine. Starting with the foundation of your natural, God-given features, it's really the routine of embracing all of your characteristics -- the curves and contours - that becomes beautiful."
