For anyone totally obsessed with Beauty and the Beast growing up, you will no doubt have completely fallen in love with Belle’s big yellow ball gown. And whilst the animated Disney version was released in 1991, the ‘Belle-effect’ has never left the (style) spotlight – from Giambattista Valli’s recent Haute Couture show to Alicia Vikander’s sunny princess dress she wore to the 2016 Oscar’s, courtesy of Louis Vuitton.

And, as was always going to be the case, Emma Watson looks exquisite as Belle in one of the most anticipated live-action reboots of all time.

‘I really embraced working on the dress, making sure that it was utterly whimsical, and magical,’ Watson told Entertainment Weekly. ‘The scene that I wear that dress in, and I have that dance in, it really tells the story of Beast and Belle falling in love.’

Though Miss Watson may have also had some guidance from an unlikely source in the process: from Dan Stevens’ (AKA, the Beast) 5-year-old daughter, Willow.

Speaking on This Morning, the former Downton Abbey star said: ‘She was five when we made this film – it was just magic all the way through - to bring [her] on set.

‘Emma Watson came over to our house for dinner,’ Dan recalls. ‘And we were talking about the design of the dress. Willow overheard the conversation and came back 30 minutes later, pen and paper [in hand], with five different dress designs.’

‘She sat down with Emma, talked her through these dress designs.’ he adds. ‘They picked one.

‘And a few weeks later, Willow comes on set to see the ballroom scene. Emma is the dress and Willow just looked at me and went, “yep, that’s the one!”

Thankfully, her dad has tons of contacts in period costume dramas if she so wishes in the future.
