Not a day goes by when the internet doesn’t click bait us into looking at THE somethingest something… And, as you’ll be well aware, it’s pretty much never is.
The same can’t be said for Claire Courtin-Clarins’ wedding ensemble. (… Yes, that’s Claire Courtin-Clarins of the Clarins cosmetics dynasty, grandaughter of founder Jacques and sister of Virginie.)
Tall, cool, French, beautiful (and an artist), she could have worn pretty much anything and got the fashion crowd talking and the Instagram like mill whirring. Instead she opted for a full Jacquemus SS17 catwalk look, comprising a puff-sleeved mannish shirt, a waist coat and a wide-brimmed straw hat. The result was kind of Amish, a bit Little House On The Prairie, and overall: excellent.
The collection, which Simon Porte Jacquemus — the founder of the eponymous label — showed at Paris Fashion Week, was inspired by Provençal culture and his childhood in the south of France.
Courtin-Clarins made a few bridal-appropriate edits, wearing the thigh-skimming shirt closed. She also swapped the square toe sling-back pumps for boots and wore her blonde hair in a neat high plait. She accessorised, not with a cotton umbrella, but — true to form and family — a Clarins umbrella.
If we could all be a little more Claire Courtin-Clarins…
