Despite being an unlikely sartorial figure in fashion, Barbie has been hugely inspirational within the industry. Ever since her creation in 1959, every girl’s best friend has been continuously referenced in fashion.

From Moschino’s heavily pink S/S '16 collection to MAC’s collaboration with the brand back in 2007.

And this time it’s the turn of Charlotte Olympia Dellal, the original fan girl. Having collected the dolls throughout her childhood, it’s Barbie she has to thank for her foray into fashion, as she would spend countless hours collating outfits for the toys.

And it's clear that the collaboration has been a long time in the making, as she told WWD, ‘Isn’t it every girl’s dream to have a Barbie that looks like her?’

The capsule collection features two clutches aptly named, 'Barbie Vanina' and 'Barbie World' alongside shoes inspired by the femininity of the two brands. We're talking pom-pom embellished sandals and ‘Pretty In Pink’ kitty flats galore. Our childhood selves are admittedly lusting after the pink leather clutch emblazoned with the iconic word, ‘Barbie’.

Inspired by old Hollywood glamour, the exclusive Barbie doll created as part of the collection, is dressed head to toe in leopard print, donning red gloves with a matching fifties-inspired handbag dwindling from her poised arm.

Hailing Barbie as one of the ‘most iconic figures in the world’, Dellal could not wait to give Barbie the Charlotte Olympia aesthetic she deserves with spider web earrings and the signature Pandora clutch box.

The perspex-filled, lipstick laden collection launches today and is available to shop from Charlotte Olympia, Barbie and Net-A-Porter.

It seems pink is set to be the ‘it’ colour for yet another season...

Thanks Barbie.
