However your January is shaping up, there's no doubt it could always be improved by the unadulterated glamour of Chanel. Sometimes, particularly in our current times, a little taste of escapism is a wonderful thing, which is why the fashion house's new campaign for its Fine Jewellery and Watches collection is very welcome indeed.

Entitled 'Over The Moon', Chanel's new short film tells the story of four strangers who take a trip to the moon in a lift, accompanied by each other and the jewels in which they're dressed. From the new pink Blossom watch, interlaced with pastel-pink leather to sparkling camellias – Chanel's iconic motif – seen on gold earrings and beautiful rings, it's enough to make you forget January altogether.

The collection launches tomorrow, along with the accompanying film. Then, on 2 January, Chanel will showcase its latest Haute Couture collection in Paris. Since the death of Karl Lagerfeld in February of last year, Virginie Viard has been at the helm of the brand. In early December 2019, she debuted her first Metiers d'Art collection, championing tiny bags, chain belts and other, highly-covetable accessories.

While we wait to see what Viard has in store for the next chapter of Chanel's story, at least we can enjoy the ever-enjoyable campaigns that the brand continues to deliver.

If only reaching the moon (in Chanel jewels, no less) were as easy as this new film suggests.

Chanel, AW14 runway. For Karl Lagerfeld the world was his muse. He was able to turn the mundane, like supermarket shopping and consumption culture, into esoteric, humourful accessories that became instantly collectable. For instance, in March 2014, he transformed the Grand Palais into a Stepford Wives supermarket where models, like Cara Delevigne, shopped for 'Chanel' branded groceries and wore bags wrapped in cellophane.
