Let's be frank, Paris Couture Fashion Week wouldn't be anything without Chanel. It'd be like chips without ketchup (we couldn't think of a chicer comparison). And this season, the man behind the french fashion house delivered his most spectacular show yet.
A makeshift Eiffel Tower dominated the prestigious Grande Palais in the very spot a faux rocket stood last season. We challenge you to think of a more quintessentially Parisian emblem...
But what really bowled us over was not merely the chic settings (no matter how epic). Fast forward to the end of the show and Karl Lagerfeld is known for sending a bridal look down the runway to close the spectacle. And this season, we can only wish we had a magical money tree to save up for a bridal gown by the man himself.
The designer sent 19-year-old Camille Hurel down the runway in the most Pinterest-friendly gown in existence. The French teenager graced the catwalk in a sleek, minimal cream gown adorned with a cloud-like tulle hem.
Nipped in beneath the bust with a sweet ivory bow, the dress puffed outwards in a fairytale-inspired trapeze silhouette. It can only be described as minimalism the Chanel way, as the dress boasted sleek full sleeves and shoulders adorned in tulle blossoms. And who else would dare team the elegant look with punky boots and juxtaposing rainbow splatter-effect make-up by Tom Pecheux? Only Lagerfeld could get away with it.
And the rest of the collection followed suit, seeking inspiration from the structural beauty of the Eiffel Tower itself. Cue heavy tweed full skirt suits, ballooned blazer sleeves and feathers atop jacquard-print shoulders.
Now all we need is a groom...
