Ready Yourself Chain-mail Halternecks are Hot Again

The year was 2002, Keira Knightly had just shot to fame in Bend It Like Beckham, Kim Kardashian was still Paris Hilton’s assistant and the soundtrack to every night out was Nelly and Kelly’s Dilemma. All we wanted in life was a backless halterneck top tailored out of paper-thin chainmail, preferably in silver, but we’d settle for it in purple and long enough to be worn as a dress. While we were wayy too young to pull this trend off the first time it hit, that’s thankfully not the case anymore. As ever, the most stylish girls on Instagram are two steps ahead and have already raided the best charity/thrift stores and inducted it into their after dark wardrobe. Put Destiny’s Child on, pretend New Labour is still a thing and invest in one of these tops STAT.

The Long And The Short Of It

Retailing at a whopping $9,000, we’re not suggesting you go out and buy Kendall’s Labourjoisie dress. But we are saying, keep up with Kendall by having a major metallic disco ball moment. She teamed her slinky piece with a heap of sparkle – from the clutch to her layered choker, it was bling but in a polished way.

It’s Important To Love What You Wear

Our perpetual style crush Elizabeth De La Piedra made our heart beat a little faster in her black and red chain-mail top. Her styling is so low-key it’s admirable. Rather than going full-throttle, like Kendall, she slipped on jeans and a coat.

Crop It Like It’s Hot

The linked metal top may have made its debut originally in the ‘60s with Paco Rabanne and had a renaissance in the ‘90s courtesy of Versace, but Grace La Doja has brought the look into the 21st Century. It helps that she has Drake on her arm. But, for those of us missing a Drizzy date, copy her accessorising and wear yours with layered gold necklaces and low-slung trousers. The look meshes the past, present and future of fashion in an enviably effortless way.

When Denim Gets Extra

Denim day and night is our mantra. So, we're only too happy to get down with how the Blonde Salad blogger Chiara Ferrangni’s worn her ultra-sexy liquid-metal top with roughed up jeans. Full-back exposure is a must.

Hell For Leather

Up the ante like Justine Skye has while hanging out with Hailey Baldwin. Her lace-up leather trousers cave into the tops Coyote Ugly potential, and in our books, that’s not a bad thing.
