Rihanna's recent pregnancy announcement has changed the genre of 'maternity style' as we know it. Spotted out and about in New York - as well as on the front row at fashion month - RiRi has worn everything from cut-away catsuits to latex crop tops to sheer naked dresses. But she's not the only one who has taken a bold approach to dressing one's bump. (As Jada Pinkett Smith just posted on Instagram: 'Who says you can't wear see thru fits when you're preggers???' referring to a throwback picture of herself, and a recent one of Rihanna, where they're both showcasing their bumps in barely-there fabric.)
A few years ago, Jodie Turner-Smith styled out the most spectacular pregnancy wardrobe from Gucci, wearing sunshine yellow sequins to 2020's BAFTAs. In fact, after she appeared in a crop top on The Graham Norton Show, Turner-Smith had a message for viewers who didn't agree with her choice of outfit, tweeting: '...gives zero fucks about your disdain for pregnant women’s bodies on British television.' Quite right too.
From Beyoncé to Meryl Streep - who both, incidentally, had a 'goddess in gold' moment during their pregnancies - here are our favourite celebrity pregnancy style moments that tick the 'bold' box.

Rihanna
Rihanna's expecting her first child with A$AP Rocky - and so far has redefined the genre of pregnancy style with latex crop tops, sheer dresses and this fabulous catsuit from Stella McCartney.
Jodie Turner-Smith
Jodie Turner-Smith's pregnancy wardrobe was truly award-winning on the promo trail for Queen & Slim; just look at these sunflower sequins for 2020's BAFTAs.
Jada Pinkett Smith
At 1998's Grammy Awards, Jada Pinkett Smith proved that she got there first when it comes to the 'naked' dress, wearing a spangled gown that framed her bump to sublime effect.
Ashley Graham
Another fan of latex is Ashley Graham, who wore the fabric in firetruck red for an outing in 2019.
Kim Kardashian
Compared to recent arrivals at the Met Gala, this rose-printed gown (albeit with a daring thigh-high slit) was a relatively muted moment for Kim Kardashian.
Cardi B
At last year's BET Awards, Cardi B wore a crystal-embellished catsuit that framed her growing bump beautifully.
Beyoncé
Beyoncé was a goddess in gold at 2017's Grammy Awards.
Meryl Streep
Matching the gold of her statuette - the occasion was 1983's Oscars, where the actor had just won for her role in Sophie's choice - Streep and her bump were best in show.
