She's already a front-runner for Best Actress - which would round out a trophy cabinet that already contains two Oscars - but, aside from her performance in Tár, she's also a shoe-in for this season's best dressed nominee. With her stylist Elizabeth Stewart - whose client list also includes fellow heavyweights of Hollywood Viola Davis, Julia Roberts, Amanda Seyfried and Jessica Chastain - Cate Blanchett continues to be one of the most captivating red carpet dressers out there. Rather like her chameleonic range when it comes to performances - don't forget she's played Elizabeth I, Bob Dylan and Katharine Hepburn - Cate is something of a shape-shifter when it comes to what she wears.
Take last night's Critics' Choice Awards. Cate wore directional separates from Max Mara, a low-key shirt and ankle-sweeping skirt in a creamy shade that chimed with the vanilla girl trend that dominated the red carpet. She also, and this is a particular passion of Elizabeth Stewart's, is famous for recycling looks - something that's still relatively rare in the rarified world of the red carpet.
On this year's award circuit, she's already been showing her sustainable style credentials. At Louis Vuitton's party, Cate actually wore an archival look by the brand's creative director Nicolas Ghesquière, proving that old is just as good (if not better) than new. Keep scrolling to see her best looks of this season (and, as a bonus, we've also found her most spectacular gowns of all time). You're welcome!
