Never mind Hot Girl Summer, 2021 is shaping up to be the summer of style. Having been deprived of a reason to get dressed up for so long, we're suddenly inundated with social plans, live events and every other occasion that might mean you need to wear something other than leggings. For celebrities, this means the red carpet has returned, which is never more glamorous than at the Cannes Film Festival, which just wrapped this weekend after two glorious weeks on La Croisette.

And what a welcome return it was. There's nothing quite like a bit of old fashion escapism via some truly brilliant gowns and, as Cannes consists of photocalls as well as the bigger, more formal red carpet events, there's always a vast array of outfits on offer to please your eyes. Case in point? Marion Cotillard's Chanel cycling shorts by day and her metallic peplum gown (also Chanel) by night.
As always, Bella Hadid has been on La Croisette, armed with suitcases full of breathtaking dresses. For her first look, she chose a Jean Paul Gaultier gown from the designer's spring/summer collection in 2002. Yet another celebrity embracing vintage fashion.

It's not just the women, either. Director Spike Lee made an entrance in a fuchsia Louis Vuitton suit, complete with matching sunglasses, no less. Keep scrolling for the most glamour-embracing looks on the red carpet.
