The nominations for the annual Fashion Awards have been announced ahead of this year’s event on Monday 4th December at the Royal Albert Hall.

Hosted by the British Fashion Council in partnership with Swarovski, the fashion world’s answer to the Oscars honours the designers, models and business leaders who have made the biggest impact on the fashion industry in the last year.

Chosen by a board of over 2,000 fashion insiders, the nominees were announced by Natalie Massenet, chairman of the British Fashion Council and founder of Net-A-Porter.

‘These designers and brands were chosen from hundreds of international names and they represent the most creative talent and innovative businesses of the year,’ said Massenet.

In the Model Of The Year category Gigi Hadid has stiff competition to regain her title both from sister Bella and rising stars Adwoa Aboah, Kaia Gerber and Winnie Harlow. While in the Designer Of The Year category fashion heavyweights Raf Simons, Phoebe Philo and Alessandro Michele will fight it out for the prestigious prize.

The Emerging Designer category is always an interesting predictor of future stars, and this year Rejina Pyo, Michael Halpern and Faustine Steinmetz are all up for the chance to follow in the footsteps of last year’s winner, Molly Goddard.
