The red carpet at this year's British Fashion Awards will be a Chanelegant affair as Karl Lagerfeld will be presented with the Outstanding Achievement Award.
There's no need to explain why Karl is worthy of an Outstanding Achievement Award. In his fifty years in the industry Karl has been at the helm of Chloe, Fendi and, of course, Chanel where he has resided for the past thirty years. In his time at Chanel he has made many mega moments (he made a Chanel supermarket for one), has made it one of the most profitable houses in the world and has introduced tweed n' pearls to a new generation of Chanel girls from Kristen Stewart to Lily Rose Depp.
He currently juggles being creative director on his own label, Fendi and Chanel, overseeing all couture and ready-to-wear collections and shooting all of the Chanel campaigns.
Natalie Massenet MBE commented on his win: “Karl Lagerfeld defines outstanding. He is the champion of excellence, the master of the exceptional and one of the most iconic figures globally from our industry. His life's work for his own and so many extraordinary brands has written the language of fashion. He is the ultimate visionary and we celebrate not only the decades already passed but those yet to happen. In Karl's hands the future of fashion will be an exceptional one.”
He is in good company as last year this was presented to Anna Wintour at last years awards.
That's got to earn him one extra snuggle from Choupette. Let's celebrate with 5.22s all round? Or at the very least a Diet Coke?
