This is What $800 Worth Of Birkenstocks Looks Like

Got some extra cash lying around ($800 to be exact)? If so, fancy spending it on a very expensive pair of Birkenstocks? Nah, we didn't think so.

Pushing the boundaries of affordable luxury fashion to the limit, Birkenstocks - a fashion brand that is often coveted by editors, celebrities and influencers alike - has released a limited-edition version of the classic Arizona shoe model. And this new design costs a whopping $800. Yes, you heard correctly, $800 for a pair of sandals. If that's not daylight robbery then I don't know what is.

But what's so special about these limited-edition, nautical-themed shoes? Apparently just the leather material, which is said to be the 'finest imbued and oiled natural leather in navy blue'. As for the hand-crafted buckles? Well, they're made from sterling silver that's originated from the metalwork studio of jewellery designer Patrik Muff. This is a nice addition, but not really worthy of $800, right?

In fact, at such a hefty price, these shoes better walk for me, bring me my cup of coffee in the morning, and last until the day that I die, because I seriously won't be able to afford to buy any more footwear again.

Now, while I no doubt love the original (and more affordably-priced) Arizona Birkenstocks for their timeless style and comfortable design, I don't think I'll be forking out the best part of my monthly salary for the limited-edition version. Especially considering the fact that we hardly ever see any sun in England, so sandals are almost pointless. I think I'll stick to the basic $34.95 version, thanks...
