Forget splashy prints, natural fabrics or cropped trousers, the biggest trend to emerge from London Collections: Men so far is, well, girls.
American brand Coach recruited cool girl Binx to walk in their first ever fully-fledged menswear catwalk show. The mega model was joined by fellow hot names Lexi Bolling and Julia Bergshoeff who walked alongside the boys to showcase the collection- held in a bespoke skate park constructed for the occasion- which was inspired by skate culture and the American dream.
In the true spirit of the trend for gender-blended fashion which has become huge over the past few seasons, Binx and co were wearing the same easy Bermuda shorts, layered tees, towelling sliders and boldly printed shirts sported by the boys on the catwalk.
The girls are favourites of Coach already; they all star in the SS15 ad campaign sporting similarly street style catnip looks like leather mini skirts, clogs and monster-like fur coats.
After the show, Coach posted a backstage shot on Instagram of the trio in loose tees with boxes of graffiti. We're hoping that Coach and Opening Ceremony's AW15 capsule collection of menswear in womenswear sizes might be replicated for SS16.
In the meantime, there are plenty of styling ideas to steal from Binx, Lexi and Julia’s Coach cameo. How about trialling a bum bag slung to the side so it becomes what Coach designer Stuart Vevers is calling a ‘hip pack’? Alternatively, cover-up on breezier summer days with an oversized parka or string a few of your favourite rings onto a long chain and sling around your neck. Finally, get proper borrowed-from-the-boys attitude by burying your hands deep in your pockets. It’s Binx-approved.
