We've finally hit that time of year when our coats can be put away in order to make way for 'jacket season'. Blazers, ponchos, parkas, puffas…the latest jacket craze can sometimes leave us in a state of mild panic. This is perhaps why denim jackets never fail to solve a multitude of wardrobe crises, providing the ultimate level of warmth during the sunny season without being too much.

The denim jacket has been a long-standing wardrobe staple. Founded by Levi Strauss in 1890, it has evolved from its humble beginnings as workwear for labourers and uniform for cowboys into a mainstream fashion essential.
And while we recommend the denim jacket as a key piece in any capsule wardrobe, that doesn't mean it should be boring. The trick to buying your classic blue-wash is to stick to trusted denim giants like Guess, Levi's, Wrangler - or Meghan Markle's favourite - Madewell, for a timeless investment that will see you through year after year. Look to the high-street and mid-market brands for more on-trend styles and statement colours that turn heads (for all the right reasons).
