Bella Hadid never plays it safe when it comes to her personal style, so why would she change that on her 21st birthday? The model sister of Gigi Hadid stepped out en route to her celebrations yesterday in New York wearing a white, broderie anglaise dress from Australian brand Daisy, with the lace-up, corset-style front, apron skirt and cap sleeves making it feel very reminiscent of a traditional German dirndl dress (like the ones you see at Munich’s famous beer festival, Oktoberfest). She accessorised the flirty style with a Dior handbag, knee-high white boots and silver hoop earrings.

In characteristic Hadid style, she switched up her look for the evening soiree, ditching the milkmaid aesthetic for an altogether vampier (and dare we say more ‘Bella’ look). As she stepped out for dinner with her parents and sister Gigi, she chose a midi-length black dress with lace-up sides and leather straps. She swept her hair into a high ponytail – one of the signature looks – and finished the look with matching black stiletto heels. Both looks were quintessential Bella, who is known for her love of ‘90s fashion (earlier in the day she was even caught singing along to Ashley Simpson on Instagram stories, the ultimate early noughties guilty pleasure…)

Bella’s 21st birthday shenanigans were altogether more pared back than some of her famous friends, including Kendall Jenner, who celebrated at Delilah’s in Hollywood wearing a silver sequinned dress identical to the one Paris Hilton wore to her own coming-of-age party. Meanwhile elder sister Gigi threw an A-list bash attended by Taylor Swift, Jaden Smith, Naomi Campbell and most of the Kardashians, and wore white hotpants, a silk black tank top and layered chokers.
