Whether you're leeeeaving on a jet plane to the Dordogne or just going round the corner to Aunt Doris's for a much needed, booze-free long weekend of crumpets and boggle, it's a truth universally acknowledged that you will need to pack a bag. I'm not saying it needs to be filled with Palermo-esque kaftanian staples, but you're going to need a few outfits.

Firstly, you're going to need some fresh basics to gallivant around in
Don't make the mistake of dressing like you're 15 (spaghetti top, low-slung tracksuit bottoms) just because you are Travelling. You always bump into someone you don't want to, when you're Travelling, so in case that's the really fit guy you've always loved from afar, make sure it's something suitably cool but comfortable at the same time - cos you're going to be wearing it both there and back plus potentially the whole weekend if you're being active/it's rank weather.
Cotton Jersey Sweater, £140 Sandro at Selfridges, Palmeral T-Shirt, £75 House of Hackney, Mom Jeans, £55 BDG at Urban Outfitters and EarPods, £25 Apple
Secondly, you're going to need some sunbathing staples
Essentials include a kaftan, a book and a good quality cleanser to get the suncream/grass/general sweaty shit off your face at the end. So what if you're not going abroad for bank holiday! It's August, there's a high chance you'll get some soleil. This ASOS one looks like it came fresh outta a French market sale, whilst everyone whose anyone has been raving about *The Miniaturist *this summer.
Swing Dress With Long Sleeves And Embroidery, £65 ASOS, Gentle Gel Cleanser, £10.99 Avene at Good Skin Days Shop and The Minituarist by Jessie Burton, £6.49 Amazon
Lastly, you're going to need something comfortable yet sexy for evening consumption
And by that we mean that you'll be consuming lots of good food and wine rather than being consumed yourself, but if you mean sexually consumed then this dress and sassy-ass pair of sandals should help you be devoured in that sense, too. The silk dress rolls up to the size of a peanut and is the most comfortable of slip dresses with a nice little split. The shoes look like they should be £500 from Prada, but obviously they are a mere steal from ASOS. Slick on some bright lipstick and you're ready to dance on tables.
Silk Midi Slip Dress, £80 Pins & Needles at Urban Outfitters, Flat Out Lace Up Flat Sandals, £36 ASOS and Rich Lip Colour in Ibiza Pink, £19.50 Bobbi Brown at Debenhams
