Sarah Burton returned to show in London last night, to the very same venue of her first McQueen show 20 years ago when she first assisted Alexander McQueen.

It was astounding, breathtaking, spine tingling to watch. Speaking to her backstage – the designer, heavily pregnant with her third child, due imminently – you could only wonder at her passion for and deep commitment to World McQueen.
That formidable energy, spirit and love had been stitched into every seam of what was an exceptionally feminine, soft and incredibly beautiful collection.

Picture a magical sprite drifting through dreams and reality, picking up treasures along the way...
So from razor sharp tuxedo jackets decorated with talismans and slim trousers (with soft ribbon bondage straps) – the tailoring that lies at the heart of the house – to eiderdown coats cocooning fragile gowns as light as fairy dust. ‘It was all about women and their obsessions,’ she said.
