Your purses are about to feel a whole lot lighter, now that Alexa Chung has launched a style and shopping app called Villoid.

Her new bank-account bothering project launched for free on the iTunes app store yesterday and boasts that it’ll be "your very own endless dressing up box, where you can experiment, celebrate and play with clothes from hundreds of brands including Converse, Acne, Marc Jacobs, Alexa Chung for AG and Chloe, as well as upload your own images to match the mood.”

So while it’s not quite Cher from Clueless’ computerised wardrobe just yet (side note: hasn’t someone invented this by now?), it’ll work something like a cross between Pinterest and Instagram, where you’ll be able to create mood/style boards from designer items to make up your own unique profile to share with friends. The clincher? Its ‘buy’ button, which will allow you to breezily click to buy the actual products from affiliated sites. Be still, our beating debit cards.

Launching the app on her Instagram account, Alexa said: “I am pleased and proud to announce that the secret app I have been working on for months is now available to download today!!! ... It's called VILLOID (more on that later) and I would love you to play with it and let me know what you think.”

The japester – who is credited as co-founder and secret mastermind of the app - signed off her message as “Alexa Zuckerberg-Chung”. You laugh now, but this’ll probably be bigger than Facebook.
