Less of a parody and more of an ingenious imitation of fashion life, French stylist and journalist Nathalie Croquet has spent the past few months skilfully recreating big advertising campaigns for a project and exhibition entitled Spoof. Casting herself as the leading lady, the model, Nathalie’s industry experience (she previously held the position of photo editor at Biba and Jean Paul Gaultier, and has since worked on various high profile campaigns across the industry) and thorough methods have created near-perfect replicas of advertisments. From Givenchy to Supreme, Sonia Rykiel to Etam, high fashion to high street, Nathalie has entertained her followers with a slow and steady release of new reproductions.
With the combined efforts of Nathalie and photographer Daniel Schweizer, no campaign stone has been left unturned; Croquet has given the thumbs up to the camera pretending to be Freja Beja Erichsen in a Zadig and Voltaire shot, originally created by Terry Richardson. Posing in an unbuttoned lumberjack shirt, Nathalie beams a smile á la Kate Moss. She stares insouciantly into the camera, with her chin leaning on her hand to replicate the glare of Edie Campbell in Lanvin. From the minutely placed dominos to each strand of hair being just so, Nathalie may often use the hashtag #humour on her instagram posts, but there’s no denying a serious amount of work has gone into creating these images.
