Are they on, are they off, is she dating her dance coach? Frankly, we're not interested in her romantic life anywhere's near as much as we're interested in her eclectic outfit choices. The woman basically invented sass - long before being sass became basic.
And according to recent reports the TV show we have all been dreaming about forever and ever will hit the small screen in late 2016. Yes you heard right - Mariah Carey’s IRL documentary is happening people.
Now, while you’re getting all excited about that, here’s a little something to help you remember the good old days of Mariah Carey outfits. Meet the original Queen of Sass Town.
1. God Bless Mariah
Now this is the first thing you need to know about Mariah Carey’s wardrobe: it’s FULL of off the shoulder tops. Most of us probably have one or two of these little numbers in our wardrobe from back in the day, Mariah seems to have HUNDREDS. Which makes sense because she is oh. So. Sass.
2. Just Me, Being Mariah
According to all the news this week, MC's imminent third marriage may no longer be happening, which we're obviously really sad about. Partly because we won't get the chance to see her in another wedding dress. This number she wore to marry husband numero uno Tommy Mittola is glorious in its opulence and drama, don’t ya think? Especially compared to the much sleeker (read: duller) dress she wore when she wed Nick Cannon.
3. Nothing To See Here People
Even when Mariah isn’t wearing off the shoulder tops and OTT (which is a hugely unappreciated acronym btw) wedding dresses, she’s still sassy. For instance when she’s hanging out on MTV wearing Normal Person clothes. Who else can make a wooly jumper and a pair of high waisted jeans look this full of attitude…
4. They Don't Do Fashion Like They Used To
This could be Mariah Carey at her very most Mariah Careyish. Multicoloured crop tops were made for Mariah Carey, and she was made for them. Who needs a five-octave vocal range when you can pull off looks like this? No one, that’s who.
5. Mariah Proves She Is v.v. Fashion Forward
Now there was a time when people thought Mariah Carey gave pink a bad rep, but looking back through those rose tinted glasses we can now see that she was actually supremely fashion forward in her use of the colour. Pairing it with those favourite cut-off waist jeans of hers and a matching scarf thing was truly inspired.
6. It's Mariah's World And We're Just Living In It
Patent leather boots and slip dresses never go out of style amirite. Also, can the cleavage have a comeback already?
7. Brb Just Going To Buy Me Some Patent Leather
Repeat after me: Mariah is the Queen, Mariah is the Queen, Mariah is the Queen... Shotgun wearing this to my Mariah Carey themed party which I’m totally having when her TV show comes out.
