1. Fancy Florals
Supercharged posies, tattoo blooms and 3D blossoms – for S/S 2014, florals have had a serious makeover. Do mine the herbaceous boarder but forget about chintzy prints and frumpy frocks.
2. Fondant Shades
Pastels, and pumped up fondant shades were seen across countless runways in all four fashion cities. Wear head to toe for an off-kilter take on girly.
3. Shine On
Satin and metallics in every colour of the rainbow brought a heavy dose of glamour to proceedings this season. For a cool shiny vibe go for a satin suit or else work sheeny fabrics for day to night – these piece are far too pretty to be saved for best.
4. Logo-Mania
Next season we’ll all be wearing our style on our sleeve as that 90’s staple makes a marked comeback. Whichever message you choose to transmit, make sure it makes a subversive statement.
5. Sheerly- There
Transparency is key once again this season as designers continue to persuade us to flash the flesh. Tops, skirts, dresses, shirts – basically anything goes as long as its see-thru.
6. Pleats Please
The corrugated skirt is the star buy of S/S 2014 – indeed no wardrobe will be complete without one. Luckily all sensibilities from upscale lady to grungy hipster are catered for with mini, maxi and midi hemlines.
7. The New Silhouette
Long-line tunics teamed with skirts have created a modern take on the classic flapper silhouette while simple dresses have been updated with dropped waists. It’s a marmite trend, for sure and certainly trickier the bustier you are on top.
As the world’s fashion editors get their feet back under their desks after a month on the road, the time is ripe to reflect on the season’s biggest trends. While we will have to wait a few months for the Spring/Summer 2014 collections to drop into store and there are countless additional micro-trends that we will be obsessing over in weeks to come – think orthopaedic shoes, skirts over jeans and strings hanging from everything – in the gallery above we have whittled down the most important looks of the season.
From florals to fondant shades, sheer to shine, these are the trends that you’ll need to be up on to deal with the season ahead. So click through the images and let us know which look you’ll be working come 2014 either on the Grazia UK Facebook page or in the comments box below!
