London’s five days of Fashion Week are arguably too short. Why? For a city so jam-packed with women reneging on outdated style rules, the length of a working week is not enough to showcase their idiosyncratic sense of style. Paris can keep its Bretons and Milan can have its glamour because what London has is off-kilter style worthy of being admired. And, that we did. While double tapping and scrolling through Instagram these were the five girls that stood out as the best dressed of LFW…
1. Glossier
Vinyl sales are on the up and not just the ones you can spin. Emerging as one of the most prominent street style trends of the season, the wet look, which singer Mable is making a strong case for has this strategically cool texture.
2. Athleisure 101
DJ Siobhan Bell could school the world in athleisure, and it’s one lesson we might actually pay attention to. From her Skepta-designed Nike kicks to her Tommy Hilfiger tracks and her Fendi bag, this girl provides a window into how London girls dress.
3. Shine On
When Leomie Anderson isn’t walking the catwalk, she’s treating the real world like one. Dressed in a silver chainmail Fannie Schiavoni dress and Jimmy Choo heels for Love Magazine’s party, she redefined the meaning of silver fox.
4. Taste The Rainbow
If there is anyone who knows how to embrace the chaos of clashing colours it’s model Naomi Shimada. Unlikely combinations like tangerine and vermillion create the drama of the runway in a real-life setting; it’s just a matter of having the confidence to dismiss so-called fashion ‘rules’. FYI Naomi got her taste of the rainbow from Karen Millen and Marques' Almeida.
5. Naked Dress
Selah Marley AKA Lauren Hill’s daughter and Bob’s granddaughter isn’t just another famous offspring, she’s a model with the ability to make every second a fashion moment. And, yes we’re jealous of her Simone Rocha dress and blindingly white sneakers.
