Some have argued that purple is the colour of royalty, but we’re not convinced that the Queen of England would quite agree. A quick scour through the image archives reveals a different story.

In the 65 years that Queen Elizabeth II has been on the British throne, she’s shown favour for one glorious colour. Namely, a particular shade that’s everywhere right now. It goes by the name of millennial pink, though Pantone calls it ‘rose quartz’. It’s a barely-there hue that’s like a wash-y blush, a tepid fuchsia, a cool salmon. It’s the white side of cherry blossom and the one colour that fashion, brands and Tumblr just can not get enough of. Think Acne Studios’ shopping bags and Drake’s Hotline Bling cover.
