We’ll level with you, Paris’s bi-annual haute couture fashion week is utterly ludicrous. The majority of pieces are one-offs, and the few that get made for a select group of VIP clients and red carpet events can cost tens of thousands of pounds (sometimes even more). For Joe Bloggs and I, it’s an exercise in escapism. It's a moment to have your breath taken away by a fairy tale gown or a precisely tailored suit.
From Chanel’s fantasy dresses, to Viktor & Rolf’s hybrid gowns made of cut-offs from old, damaged party dresses, to Francesco Scognamiglo’s kickass couture, these are the looks that made our hearts beat just a little bit faster:
1. Alexandre Vauthier’s Sparkling Showstopper
2. Zuhair Murad’s Silver Bonbon
3. Chanel’s Glittering Feather Confection
4. Elie Saab’s Symphony In Duck Egg Blue
5. Viktor & Rolf’s Frankenstein Creation
6. Schiaparelli’s Shocking Pink Sweetie
7. Giorgio Armani Prive’s Tequila Sunrise
8. Valentino’s Sheer Thrills
9. Christian Dior’s Garden Of Eden Gown
10. Ulyana Sergeenko’s Velvet Sugarplum
11. Giambattista Valli’s Modern Ballgown
12. Francesco Scognamiglo’s Badass Couture
13. Guo Pei’s Jaw-Drop Dress
14. Jean Paul Gautier’s Acid Spell
15. Maison Margiela’s Tulle Masterpiece
