Miley Cyrus has come under fire today from her near 11 million Instagram followers for posting a picture of herself snuggled up to the infamous and controversial fashion photographer Terry Richardson. One follower said, ‘You are a feminist Miley. Stop working with this pervert.’ Whilst another simply wrote, ‘ew, ew, ew.’ The pictures come from a new set taken for Terry's website Terry's World.
Terry, who has long been known for his risqué shoots which often border on the pornographic, has seen a pretty spectacular fall from grace over the last couple of years. Namely due to a large number of women coming forward to allege that he has sexually abused them. However, that has not stopped Miley – or other celebrities such as Rita Ora and Jared Leto, from continuing to support him.
In June Anna del Gazio, a model who had previously shot with Terry, wrote an exclusive piece for online site Jezebel in which she claimed that Richardson had pressed his semi-erect penis into her face during a shoot. Similarly model Sena Cech claimed that Terry had exposed himself to her, asking her to touch his penis.
These accusations haven’t gone without consequence. Just days ago Aldo announced that they were cutting all ties with the photographer – they had worked together since 2010 on a total of nine campaigns. American store Target have already ceased business with him as have H&M,* Vogue* and the New York Times. An article just published in the New York magazine asked 'Is Terry Richardson an Artist or Predator.'
Richardson himself has denied the accusations levied against him earlier this year in a piece written for the Huffington Post, claiming that he was the victim of an ‘emotionally charged witch hunt’. Richardson says 'it was never just me and a girl, ever... it was always assistants, or other people around...'
