It’s not just LK Bennett nude courts and a good blow dry that play an integral part in maintaining Kate Middleton’s eternally glossy look. The esteemed British fashion house Alexander McQueen, which is under the leadership of designer Sarah Burton, is fast becoming her trusted go-to for style armoury; from the wedding gown that spawned a thousand imitations to a red pleated day-dress you can (and she will) wear well into the future, McQueen’s incredible tailoring skills are just perfect for a princess. Below are Kate’s other magical McQueen moments...

1. The Wedding Dress:

Of course we’d pick this one. It was the bridal gown that many a girl’s dreams were/will be made of. ‘It was a precious, magical time that I’ll always treasure, and I feel like she gave me a gift in many ways. I feel incredibly privileged,’ said Sarah Burton of the time spent creating this custom-made lace dress. Every detail was intricately pored over: the lace appliqué was hand-made by the Royal School of Needlework, based at Hampton Court Palace. The train measured two metres 70 centimetres. The Cartier ‘halo’ tiara held her ivory silk tulled veil in place. We could go on, but you get this message: this was a triumphant fashion moment that will be forever etched into history.

2. The Cream Christening Frock:

The Duchess of Cambridge’s high fashion wardrobe is an impressive one, and for the tenth, yes, tenth, time she has now been lucky enough to choose a McQueen ensemble for a public appearance. Of course, the royal christening of her adorable son, Prince George, calls for an equally important outfit choice. K-Middy opted for a cream ruffled dress from the label; a piece that appeared to perfectly complement the off-white lace and ruffles of her new-born’s christening gown.

3. The LRD:

This Little Red Dress was a bit of a sassy moment for K-Middy. Yes it was demure with it’s just-above-knee hemline and slash-neck, but there was something about the peplum’d waist, flirty pleated and perfectly sculpted silhouette in this scarlet shade that gave the overall effect of something a bit cheeky.

4. The Naval Nod:

We all know our Catherine loves a literal fashion opportunity, and so it was with this ultra-chic gold-buttoned, double-breasted navy blue number for a visit to Irish Guard Medal Parade in 2011. Personally we would’ve ditch the coordinated hat and allowed this stunner of a dress to be centre-stage, but hey, our Middy likes a matchy-matchy move.

5. The Flapper Girl:

This knitted 1920s-style sailor-girl dress has made a few appearances throughout Kate’s many public appearances. It’s nice to see her in something with a little vintage appeal, and did you know SJP had worn it in navy?

5. The Vamp:

For the Military Awards in 2011 Catherine wowed in a black velvet full-length dress from Alexander McQueen. A classic combination – black dress + diamonds - she’ll be able to re-wear this look for decades to come.
