Back to work we go. Let’s make the most of the fresh start by sharpening up our at-work persona.
If last week was a test-run where half the office was still wallowing in their NYE hangovers then today the practice wheels come off. The sweats come off and the suit goes on.
Whether you’re a freelancer or desk-bound, the past decade has been marked by a shift in professional attire. For men, ties and blazers are no longer de rigueur, but ironically, for women, the latter is increasingly favoured. Along with this sartorial move, the choice of colours, patterns and silhouettes has widened. Arguably an elasticated waistband (obviously, dependent on fabrication) is acceptable in nearly every profession - that’s how far we’ve come.
Fashion has its muses and more and often its influencers, those fashion-forward Instagram-driven creatures that make styling effortless ensembles look as easy as breathing and blinking. Let them lead your wardrobe choices this January. If they say layer a turtleneck under a shirt, do it. If they suggest leggings and a blazer, don’t think twice. Sooner or later the high street and high-flying brands will be copying them too.
