Along with this sartorial move, the choice of colours, patterns and silhouettes has widened. Arguably an elasticated waistband (obviously, dependent on fabrication) is acceptable in nearly every profession - that’s how far we’ve come.

Fashion has its muses and more and often its influencers, those fashion-forward Instagram-driven creatures that make styling effortless ensembles look as easy as breathing and blinking. Let them lead your wardrobe choices this January. If they say layer a turtleneck under a shirt, do it. If they suggest leggings and a blazer, don’t think twice. Sooner or later the high street and high-flying brands will be copying them too.
