Ever wondered what a Victoria's Secret Angel packs to take on holiday? What her ultimate desert island beauty must-have is? Wonder no more - we caught up with the bombshell that is Candice Swanepoel, spokesmodel for Max Factor, about how she does summer beauty...
Grazia Daily: What are your top five make-up products you take away on holiday and why?
Candice Swanepoel: "I use organic coconut oil to take my make-up off, on my hair and to cook with. Bio Oil is my favourite product from back home in South Africa and I love using it on my hair and body. I love to use natural products when I can - I love cleansers with green tea and tea-tree oil. is a great one for my facial cleansing routine. I love a red lipstick - I'm currently using the new Max Factor Lipfinity Lipstick (£8.99). It's really soft in texture, the colour is really bright and it stays put. Max Factor's Miracle Match Foundation (£12.99) – It gives skin good coverage, but with a really light, nourished finish."
GD: What’s your holiday beauty mantra? Do you take the extra time to pamper or do you go for a less-is-more approach?
CS: "It’s more about preparing and making sure I have my favourite products when I'm on holiday, then I can have my ideal beauty routine when I'm away. It's usually a race to the airport and the plane – it’s important to be prepared so that I have everything I need."
GD: Have you got any tips on how to get glowing skin whilst away?
CS: "Regular exfoliation and using a good illuminator. Sometimes you can get a good glow from your sunscreen - sometimes they are matte, but a lot of them give a nice glow."
GD: What’s your best beauty packing tip?
CS: "Buy a really big vanity bag – I used to try do little travel sizes, then I just bought a huge bag which fits everything I need. Because I travel so much I need all my travelling gear like hand sanitizers and tissues so I'm comfortable on the plane. I love a big Givenchy tote!"
GD: How do you relax when you’re travelling?
CS: "I catch up on sleep and reading. When I can, I love to be surrounded by nature or swimming in the ocean."
GD: What’s your favourite fragrance to wear at the moment?
CS: "Victoria Secrets Bombshell (around £33.00)– it's fruity and floral and good for the day and night."
GD: What are your favourite cult beauty brands?
CS: "I use things you would normally find in your fridge, like organic coconut oil. It’s good for removing make-up, and cooking - I put it in my smoothies to keep my skin is glowing."
GD: Have you got any other all-natural products that you use?
CS: "Argan oil for hair and cold pressed olive oil - I put this in my hair when it needs a bit of TLC."
GD: What beauty products do you always carry in your handbag wherever you go?
CS: "Mascara is always in my handbag - I'm using Max Factor False Lash Effect Velvet Volume Mascara (similar here) right now. It creates really soft but voluminous lashes. I recently shot the campaign with Pat McGrath and I love the soft, velvet feel it gives to my lashes.""
GD: If you could leave the house wearing just one beauty product what would it be and why?
CS: "Mascara!"
