Zoë Kravitz is on a roll.
She won big at the Critics' Choice Awards, with her movie Mad Max: Fury Road sweeping up an incredible nine gongs, including Best Action Movie. That, and the fact she’s just landed two major campaigns - for respected fashion house Calvin Klein, and Alexander Wang’s last ever Balenciaga collection - doesn’t hurt either.
So, it’s about time you got to know the actress-musician. If 2015 is anything to go by, 2016 promises even more big things…
Zoë Kravitz: The Facts
Zoë Isabella Kravitz was born on 1st December 1988, the daughter of legendary musician Lenny Kravitz and The Cosby Show actress Lisa Bonet. She was born and raised in Los Angeles, California, and despite growing up in the spotlight, told ASOS Magazine in 2012 that her childhood was relatively normal - so that meant chores, having an allowance and finding your parents embarrassing.
Zoë Kravitz's Movies
Zoë has been working in film regularly since 2009, but her career really kicked off in 2010, when she landed the roles of Sweetness O’Hara in indie film Yelling To The Sky and Pearl in the popular US TV series Californication.
Her big breakthrough role, however, was as disgruntled mutant Angel Salvadore in 2011’s star-studded superhero flick X-Men: First Class.
After reaching the big time with X-Men, Zoë starred in M Night Shyamalan’s sci-fi thriller After Earth, alongside Will and Jaden Smith, in 2013.
Another blockbuster came along in 2014: the film adaptation of the first novel in the Divergent series. Zoë won one of the leading roles, alongside Shailene Woodley, Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort and Kate Winslet. Follow that with a part in 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road, and it’s clear that Zoë’s star is only going to keep rising.
Divergent, of course, promised sequels. Zoë reprised her role as Christina in Insurgent (2015) and is currently filming Allegiant (2016). According to IMDB, she’ll also be starring in the fourth film of the series, Ascendant (2017).
IMDB also states that Zoë has six completed, in production or announced new film (and one TV) projects under her belt. So, the style icon isn’t showing any signs of slowing down her career trajectory.
Zoë Kravitz and her band, Lolawolf
Electro-meets-r&b-meets-pop best describes the sound of Zoë, keyboardist James Levy and drummer Jimmy Giannopoulos’s Brooklyn-based band Lolawolf.
The band first began in 2013 and told Buzzfeed that they do most of their recording from the Bahamas or hotel rooms.
Career highlights include the release of their full-length debut album Calm Down in 2014, and the music video for their single Bitch, featuring an appearance from a scantily-clad Miley Cyrus, receiving high praise from fans and critics alike.
Oh, and where did the group get their slightly unusual name? Reportedly, they named the band after Zoë’s younger sister and brother, combining their names, Lola and Nakoa-Wolf, respectively. Aw!
Zoë Kravitz, Calvin Klein and Balenciaga
Zoë and mum Lisa Bonet appeared in a recent ad for Calvin Klein's 2016 watches and jewellery campaign. This shot, taken from Calvin Klein's Instagram page, shows the mother-daughter duo running across the beach.
If that wasn't enough, Zoë also stars in the new Balenciaga SS16 campaign alongside model of the moment Anna Ewers...
Zoë Kravitz's Tattoos
Zoë’s got countless tattoos - in 2011, she told* Complex* she couldn’t remember if she had 18 or 19, so we imagine that number has skyrocketed over the past five years. They’re all relatively small, including tattoos of family members’ names, an eagle, a mermaid and an arrow.

Zoë Kravitz's Style
Think oversized coats, cosy knee-length cardigans, big beanie hats paired with small shades and chunky black shoes when it comes to street style, but on the red carpet, Zoe ups the ante and opts for high-end ball gowns.
Zoë’s been described as the anti-It girl, and while we want to agree, she’s got such serious style credentials that we reckon she's come full circle and landed firmly in It-girl territory. Just click through the gallery below to see what we mean…
