Kate Middleton Is The Star Of The Royal Variety Performance In Alexander McQueen

Kate Middleton wowed at the Royal Variety Performance, wearing a stunning Alexander McQueen black lace dress. Kate and William stepped out for the annual celebrations at London's Palladium Theatre, with William looking smart in black tie. Adding the perfect finishing touch to her outfit, the Duchess was also wearing a gorgeous pair of £340 Erdem earrings.

The evening was hosted by comedians Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan - who joked that the pair were on a date night - and included performances from the cast of Mary Poppins, Lewis Capaldi{ =nofollow}, Mabel, Robbie Williams, the cast of Come From Away, and a special collaboration by Emeli Sandé and Manchester’s Bee Vocal choir.

But, there was no George, Louis or Charlotte at the event.

When the pair entered the palladium, they were met by a couple of children who handed them a posy of flowers. But when the couple met the cast of Mary Poppins - and the Mirror reports{ =nofollow}that they joked that their children couldn’t attend the show because it ‘was a school night’.

The show will broadcast on ITV in early December.

As we reported yesterday{ =nofollow}, Christmas TV is going to be extra brilliant this year - as Kate and Mary Berry are teaming up for a Christmas special.

The show, reportedly named The Mary Berry Royal Christmas Show, will be televised on BBC1 and will see the pair preparing a Christmas feast for charity workers. Newspaper reports suggest the programme may take place in a royal venue, where Berry will cook and Middleton will help out. A source told The Mirror{ =nofollow}, 'Between them they will bring seasonal goodwill to their guests and to the millions of viewers watching. Expect a properly uplifting Christmas treat.'
