Earlier this year Meghan Markle married Prince Harry in a Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy gown, then when the camera crew went home she switched into a halterneck Stella McCartney dress. Capitalising on the attention, McCartney released a capsule collection of identical lily-white frocks. The catch? They cost £3,500 a pop and were only available from the label’s Old Bond Street Store.
Long story short, we didn’t manage to bag a replica gown.
Enter: Fashion Nova. The American website, which is beloved by the Kardashians and a whole generation of influencers has now created a near-identical frock dubbed ’The Royal Debut Dress’.
With a high halter neck, fitted frame and flared hem it’s remarkably similar, so much so that the brand is promoting it with a picture of Meghan in her reception gown.
Costing a mere £35and available in sizes XS to XXXL, it’s already proving ridiculously popular with five-star reviews littering the website. Carla M. said, ’loved it, is perfect I am so in loved with it very sleek and sexy for plus size woman.’ While, Natasha H. wrote, ‘I bought this dress to be my second dress after my traditional wedding gown. It’s SUCH a beautiful look that I’m worried I might wear it before the big day, lol. Looks like the picture and has a built-in slip for no show-through. If you are top-heavy, you might need to work with the dress a bit to get the mock neck to sit as it should but other than that, this is a winner of a dress.’
